Emma Sheffert

Senior Associate

Emma has always had a passion for equity and healthcare access. After completing her Bachelors of Science at the University of Michigan, she worked for two years at a local gym as a personal trainer and fitness coach. She loved connecting with her community and learning more about fitness and nutrition, two lifelong passions. From that experience, Emma knew she wanted to move away from individual treatments and instead look at systems level changes.

In 2020, Emma moved to Washington, DC to complete her Masters of Public Health in Health Policy at the Milken Institute School of Public Health at George Washington University. During her MPH, Emma interned in the House of Representatives for former Congressman Brenda Lawrence from Michigan and with the non-profit Trust for America’s Health.

Upon graduation, Emma worked at the Bipartisan Policy Center for three years working on health policy topics such as SNAP, Food is Medicine, rural health, youth behavioral health, and AI in health care. During her time at BPC, she led working groups, wrote numerous reports, and was asked to share her expertise on panels and interviews on nutrition and rural health.

In her free time, Emma can be found going on long walks with her dog, listening to a podcast, or reading. When she can, Emma loves to travel and experience new places, or spend time at Lake Michigan.
