Vaccine hesitancy has been a public health concern for years and with the emergence of the novel coronavirus, SARS-CoV-2, and quick development of a COVID-19 specific vaccine, concerns about the safety of the vaccine from the public were heightened. However, physicians are and continue to be trusted messengers when it comes to encouraging the public to become vaccinated. As the COVID-19 disease continues to spread, physicians play an integral role in ensuring that the public is comfortable and confident in receiving their COVID-19 shots and boosters. Their messaging around the vaccines must continue to evolve based on the current climate around the pandemic, especially because additional vaccines have been purchased by the U.S. Government to help reduce severe illness.
