A January 2023 poll showed that only 9% of Americans believe the 118th Congress can work together in a bipartisan way. Congress has a chance to prove them wrong.
When it comes to legislative action in this Congress, “consensus” and “bipartisanship” are the watchwords. Without it, little will get accomplished. Threading the needle and securing intraparty consensus within each chamber and bipartisan consensus between the chambers won’t be an easy task.
